Being the primary caregiver for my mother as I watch dementia slowly strip her dignity away has been one of the hardest years of my life. As I reflect on this year’s turmoil, I am incredibly thankful for Monique and her team. Why? The gorgeous rooms designed by Monique have provided me with more moments of peace and joy than I ever expected. With every turn of a doorknob, these rooms are like wonderful gifts that I get to keep opening over and over again.

Immediately after signing the contract to pay her six figures for her services, I got nervous and worried that this may have been a mistake. Almost one year later, I can honestly say that hiring Monique has been one of the best decisions of my life. Each room has an amazing level of charm and character. These rooms have proven to be my oasis as I deal with the oppressive heat of caregiving.

We were looking for an interior designer to assist in decorating our yet to be built new home, so we interviewed and participated in four different designers’ presentations. All four were excellent presenters; however, Holland Custom Designs exceeded the others.

The end results were that Monique and her team expertly incorporated our preferences, style, and color-likes in a product that filled the rooms in our new home in a beautiful showcase fashion. Additionally, they provided valuable advice and recommendations for trends and items that would be timeless in their placements.

Soon after I closed on my home in DC, I became overwhelmed with finding the right living and dining room furniture/decor. I spent hours upon hours searching online, and when I received the pieces, I hated all of them. I realized I needed help, so I searched for professional decorators and found Monique Holland.

After viewing her website, I emailed her, and the next day she called to set up an in-person consultation. During the appointment, Monique took the time to get to know me and understand my esthetics and budget. A few weeks later, she returned to my home with a digital mock-up, and I was blown away! She completely captured my personality and vision. She had sample fabrics so I could see/feel the exact colors and textures, which you can’t do online. Once we finalized the details, she sent me updates every 2 weeks.

On the day of install, I was super nervous because I am incredibly picky! She came with her crew, and when they finished, I was in awe! My living and dining room looked ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! Even better than the digital mock-up. Every detail was spot on and beautiful. Immediately after the install, I asked her to decorate more rooms in my home. I’m so grateful for Monique because she removed all the stress of finding the right pieces and made this process so smooth. It’s clear that she is a highly talented decorator and passionate about making her customers happy. I’m so lucky I found her!

Monique, guess what?  My parents finally made it up for a visit. They left this morning after spending the last week here. Monique…they ABSOLUTELY LOVED the house!!! Monique Holland is a true design professional. Talented and super creative, she listens to the client and works her magic to create stunning, custom interior spaces. I joined her on a large installation this spring. It included dozens of design elements: furniture, window treatments, flooring, lighting and accessories for the client’s living room, dining room, family room and master bedroom. If you’ve ever seen a design come together the day of installation, it is never perfect like HGTV. There are so many moving parts. It requires a tremendous amount of coordination with vendors, installers, delivery companies, etc. It also requires a cool head and the ability to address issues quickly and decisively.
